I currently teach nude yoga classes in Lambertville, NJ. My website is: www.shankarastudio.net
I practiced yoga for a number of years in my 20s. Then I fell away from my practice. I took at job as an attorney and my partner and I adopted an infant. I fell away from myself and my body. I started yoga back up in 2009 with quite a bit of weight to lose and feeling very uncomfortable with my body. Frankly, I’ve always struggled with my body – but the extra weight made matters worse.
I then decided I needed to do something solely for myself – I registered for the Braking AIDS Ride – a 300 mile ride from Boston to NYC to raise money for folks living with HIV/AIDS. It was in this process – of giving – that I found I received the most. It completely shifted my perspective. I was grateful to have a yoga practice and amazing teachers along the way. I became aware of the bigger picture. I let go of a lot of things I was holding so tightly onto… the weight being merely one.
I got certified to teach yoga a few years after I had practiced regularly. I immediately began teaching nude classes for men. For me, it’s always been a sacred time. I time to strip away the layers, literally and figuratively to get to explore my body, my spirit, my heart. I’m feel so incrdibly lucky to have a community of amazing men around me. We strip down. We laugh. We cry. We celebrate one another. We lift each other up.
